Sheila, one of our longest serving members pitches up 3 times per week and gives it 110% every time! It’s an absolute pleasure to be putting Sheila through her paces each week and we thank you Sheila for your continued Burn It support!
I started at Burn It in late 2014. I heard about through my friend Charlotte and she was singing its praises.
As I live in Edinburgh I started going to classes at the Meadows and Inverleith. However, when these classes stopped, I have become a faithful member in West Lothian ever since. I have been running since I was 13-which wasn’t yesterday! I have always considered myself to be fit and competed in track and cross-country races firstly for Dundee Hawkhill Harriers and then for Edinburgh Southern Harriers.
However, after my first Burn It session with Paul I felt as if I had been run over by a bus!! A bit similar to how I felt after Super Burn It in September. I realised then that although I could run, my core fitness probably wasn’t as good as I thought. I try and come along to Burn It classes three times a week, no matter what the weather is like.
I don’t have to motivate myself-it’s the people and the trainers that give you that motivation to do your best, no matter your level of ability or fitness. One of the best experiences I have had since joining is going to the fitness weekends at Portavadie. I have been for the past three years and am looking forward to this October. One of my absolute highlights from my first trip to Portavadie was a quote from fellow Burn It member Brian to Burn It member Lesley, after us running about all day… ’Your hair looks like it’s been combed with a toffee apple’ Brilliant!
I would highly recommend Burn It and I would never go back to a gym. Despite being one of the oldest members, I have really improved my fitness. It’s great for your mental wellbeing and the camaraderie is fantastic.
